Nikhil joined Emma Turnbull Lawyers as a solicitor in 2020. He appears on a daily basis as an advocate in the Magistrates’ Court for criminal matters, including plea hearings, bail applications, mention and contest mention hearings.
Nikhil holds a Bachelor of Laws and Arts with Honours from the University of Auckland as well as a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. He is admitted in the Supreme Court of Victoria and specialises in criminal defence advocacy. Nikhil is also a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Nikhil has always had a passion for social justice, criminal law and advocacy. Nikhil understands that any interaction with the criminal legal system is a daunting and traumatic experience and has a unique ability to build rapport with clients from any background. Acting as a fierce advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves is something Nikhil takes pride in.
Nikhil has worked in the legal industry since 2013 in both New Zealand and Australia in a number of different areas of law from refugee law to commercial law. Nikhil has also worked for the New Zealand government at the United Nations in New York, assisting the negotiation of resolutions related to International Law.
